Jewish Book Fair a huge success!
By Naomi Rubin, Program Director
We had an amazing Jewish Book Fair in December. The authors spoke about politics (Richard M. Rosenbaum), their memoirs, fiction, and the history of the State of Israel. There was something for everyone. Authors engaged the audience with their knowledge and the love of their subject. They kept our attention and engaged us in questions and answers after they spoke. more

TODAY’S FEDERATION:
Shaping our future
The mission of the Jewish Federation of Lee and Charlotte Counties is to provide and support philanthropic, educational and social service programs which promote such Jewish values as Tzedakah - benevolence, Tikun Olam - repairing the world, and K’lal Yisrael - taking responsibility for one another, in order to strengthen and enrich the Jewish community locally, in Israel and throughout the world.
During the summer of 2008, the Board of Directors of the Jewish Federation of Lee and Charlotte Counties met at a retreat in order to chart the future course of our federation. We discussed what our Federation meant to each of us, how it could better serve more
The story of our new logo
We are a dynamic and evolving community, and the Jewish Federation today is a different organization than it was in 1989. As the world changes, and the general community changes, so does the Jewish community of Lee and Charlotte counties.
Our new logo represents everything the Federation is and does locally, in Israel and throughout the world. The logo captures everything the Federation represents, and everything the Federation can be.
The graphics to the right invoke feelings of compassion, protection, solidarity, oneness and pride. Together, these feelings, pictures and colors conjure images of heritage, family, unity, service and hope. This is what we the Federation strive to be – a reminder of who we are as a community more
A Word From Our President
Do you stop to appreciate what the ripple effect your acts of goodness and kindness have? I recently saw the movie, “The Blind Side.” It is the story of Michael Oher, a poor, essentially homeless teen from the projects in Memphis. He was taken in and became a part of a Memphis family. more
During the last four months of 2009 Mark Geisler, chairman of our Jewish Family Services committee, and I worked together with a graduating class from the Social Work Department at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) on a needs assessment of the Jewish community of Lee and Charlotte counties.
